“Keeping Your Health on Track”
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

A 2nd Grade Health and Safety Education Program

“Keeping Your Health on Track” is a unique program for 2nd graders attending Title 1 schools in the Scottsdale area. It is offered at McCormick Stillman Railroad Park, which enables Health World to provide a fun and educational mix of programming on important health and safety topics.   Activity stations, as well as side trips (train and carousel rides), provide the students with information and healthy experiences.

Health World programs are in alignment with the Arizona State Health Standards. This year’s “Keeping Your Health on Track” includes the following educational stations:

  • First Aid

  • Water/Weather/Sun Safety

  • Railroad/Transportation Safety

  • Fire Safety (hosted by Scottsdale Fire Dpt)

  • Eating Right/Staying Fit

  • Say No to Tobacco

  • What to do if You're Lost and Statying Safe (hosted by The Scottsdale Police)

  • Everyone’s Different/Accepting Yourself and Others

  • Wild at Heart Bird Rescue

“Keeping Your Health on Track” Daily Schedule

Students are to arrive at the Railroad Park at 9:30 a.m.  The classes should be arranged into their groups as specified in the group numbers below. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle. Long pants are suggested as the students may be sitting in the grass for activities.

Groups will be given a brief welcome after exiting the busses and then will begin their “trip” along the learning track.  Classes, or stations, will last about 12 minutes each; groups will travel through 8 stations. At approximately 12:00 p.m., the groups will have completed their final station, and will have time to ride the carousel and train (complements of the train park and Health World), and have lunch.  Departure from the train park should be scheduled around 1:30pm.
